“Great Leaders Don’t Set Out To Be A Leader…They Set Out To Make A Difference.  It’s Never About The Role – Always About The Goal.”

I came across the above quote the other day and I quickly jotted it down on a piece of paper so that I could use it for this very blog post.

For me…it describes Joan Wilson PERFECTLY!

I was fortunate enough to work with Joan for a few years at Kiwanis International, and then again this past year as part of the new Kiwanis Club that she started here in Indianapolis.  I learned so much from her…but the one thing that I think stands out most for me….the one thing that I continue to see her work so hard for and try to achieve every day of her life…and it is the reason why I am still involved in Kiwanis today….is because our “END GOAL” is helping and serving the children of the world.

As Joan moves onto a new chapter in her life….”retirement”…I know that her legacy at Kiwanis International will live on….

And I know that myself, along with all of our fellow club members….will strive to make her proud….to keep working hard to build up our strength in numbers….to find additional community service projects….and to help and serve the children of Indianapolis…Indiana….the United States….and THE WORLD!

THANK YOU JOAN!  You have been a wonderful Leader, President and Friend to us all!  We will miss you while you are down in Florida soaking up the sun.

And while you are sipping on your fancy “Beach Drinks” – just remember….here in Indy….

It will always be….Five O’Clock Somewhere
